The NanoDrop® ND-1000 Spectrophotometer uses only 1ul of sample for highly accurate quantitation without the need for cuvettes and capillaries. The user simply pipettes a 1ul sample directly onto a fiber optic measurement surface where the patented retention system uses surface tension to hold the sample in place. During each measurement cycle, the full absorbance spectrum of the sample is assessed at two different path lengths (1.0mm and 0.2mm), resulting in a broad dynamic range (2ng/ul to 3700ng/ul for dsDNA). The short path lengths allow researchers to measure samples up to 50-fold higher in concentration than can be measured on classical 1cm cuvette-based systems, virtually eliminating the need for dilutions. Furthermore, preparing the instrument for another measurement simply involves cleaning the sample off with a lab wipe before loading the next sample.
The NanoDrop® ND-3300 Fluorospectrometer enables high-sensitivity, fluorescence measurements of minute samples (1-2ul). The patented sample retention system uses surface tension to hold the sample in place during the measurement cycle, eliminating the need for costly cuvettes and capillaries.

Three LEDs excitation sources: UV, blue, and white provide a wide variety of full-spectrum, fluorescence detection without the need for filter changes. Several applications for nucleic acid and protein measurements are available: including common commercial methods, such as the PicoGreen and Quant iT assays, naturally occurring fluorophores, such as fluorescein, Cy and Alexa dyes, and user-configured applications for detection of nanogram quantities of proteins and picogram quantities of DNA or RNA. The instrument is powered by a USB connection making it a lightweight, portable, space-saving option for field applications and crowded laboratories.
